Water
Water is neccessary for simply living. A large percentage of the population does not have access to drinkable water. Africa Oasis is a plan to bring fresh, potable water to people who desperately need it, while along the way sharing with them what Living Water is all about.

Dealing with Cancer
This message was spoken by Kathy Van Riper at the Adobe Christian Center Fall Brunch. There is audio from video shown at the event at the start and finish of this message. In between are some amazing, candid, honest and encouraging words.
ListenGot Meek?
Meek is a word we rarely use in our vocabulary...and even if it is used we really don't have a good understanding of the word. Yet in verse 5 of Matthew chapter 5 we have Jesus telling us that the meek are blessed, or happy. What is he trying to say? Let's discover together the real meaning of meekness.
ListenHappy are those who mourn...
How could mourning possibly lead us to happiness? What does Jesus mean when he makes this statement about being blessed (happy) when you are mourning? Let's take a look together and discover the truth behind pain.
ListenHappy are the poor in spirit...
The beatitudes paint a picture of what God is looking for on the inside. The words would call for a new way to view our world and Jesus, by sharing with his disciples is creating a new map of the world.
ListenOur stuff is a tool, a test and a trademark
How does God view our stuff? Jesus tells a parable that we are tempted to overlook because it seems kind of strange...we don't get it. But behind this story is the key to how God, and ultimately we, should view our stuff...our time, talents and treasure.
With thanks to Andy Stanley.
The Power of our Words
We wield the power to make someone's day or break someone's day with a simple conversation. When we finally realize the depth of this power we may be astonished at its impact. Let's take a look together...at the power of our words.
ListenHeaping Burning Coals?
As we conclude a 3 month long look at this small passage in the book of Romans chapter 12, the summation comes in the form of yet another look at our motives and ultimately our actions when it comes to other people. And how that happens is really the answer to two questions: Do we trust God? Do we trust the way God asks us to live and believe He knows what He is talking about. Let's take a look...
ListenGive Peace a Chance
The verse says it clearly..."In as much as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone." Wow...how do we do that? What does it mean in the everyday world you and I walk in? Let's look together!
ListenTwo wrongs don't make a right.
One of the hardest things to do is to fight the desire to retaliate when when we are wronged. The apostle Paul says not to "return evil for evil." In other words, when we are wronged or when harm is done to us or when we are injured in some way, we are not to give it right back. Sometimes this is easier said than done but yet this is what we are called to. Why? Can any good come from that? Let's take a look together.
ListenRelational words of wisdom.
Our attitudes and our actions are two equally important attributes of our lives. When it comes to people and who we connect with and why, we sometimes have to ask ourselves what our motivation is. Why do we connect with some more than others? Could there possibly be something in me that smacks of seperatism? What are the motives behind what I do? All action starts with an attitude. And what is the attitude we should have? Let's look again at what Paul and ultimately, God, has to say about this.
ListenReal relationships...
It would seem that we live in a world where relationships seem to be taking a backseat. We have social networking sights, lots of cell phones, but very few deep and authentic relationships. Why? But more than that, what does the Bible have to say it about? God being the author of relationships seems to have a remedy. Let's look together and see what that is...
ListenBless those who persecute us? Why?
Is there anything as repugnant as speaking kind words to those that harrass us? It seems to go against everything within us to think of praying for God's blessing on the lives of people whom we can't stand. Why does Paul and ultimately why does Jesus ask us to do good to our enemies? What gives? Let's look together.
ListenKeep Up Your Spiritual Fervor...not only with God...but with others.
The encouragemnt to stay fervent in our faith is a thought that can certainly stand alone. But in the context of our study, how does it relate to the people we walk this journey with? What does God want us to know about being diligent in our relationships. Let's look at that today.
ListenHonor One Another...learn to play second fiddle.
One of the hardest things to do is to learn to be number 2...to play second fiddle. In this message we see not just the importance of that, but the actual need. All of this is wrapped around esteeming others above ourselves and loving those who are on this journey with us like family. Let's look together as we unwrap the second verse of this Summer long series.
ListenLove Must Be Sincere...
If the hallmark virtue of Christianity is love, then how do we measure up? Paul begins a short discourse which deals with the importance of our relationships with others. But the jumping off point is Love and in that, love has to be the real deal...authentic, genuine, without hypocrisy...sincere.

ListenFlying Blind
Trust, in the truest sense, is a deliberate launching ourselves out onto God. Allowing Him to have the keys and Him to take the wheel. It may be difficult but is the only way to walk in the fullness of God as a Christ follower.
ListenA Perfect Storm
It is amazing to think that Jesus knew the storm his disciples were to encounter and yet he had them get into the boat. What does that tell us about Jesus...and what does that tell us about ourselves? Let's take a look together.
ListenRemember Me
The context of the last supper had more meaning than the disciples probably realized. Ultimately Christ uses the opportunity to connect the dots between what was and what is and the importance of remembering for all time what was about to take place...what would be offered to you and I. Let's take a look together!
ListenAn Investment in Strength
At the risk of having another talk about the importance of alone time with God, let's take a look at how Jesus viewed his opportunity to escape for some real connection with the Father. His reasons are a picture for us at why He did it...and why we should to.
ListenBooks and their covers...
No matter where He went or what He did, Jesus always attracted a crowd. And whether they were for or against, he could see right into their hearts and what made them tick. And that is the point of this message. Jesus can see beyond the veneer and into the "nitty-gritty". This is a comforting thought for us, and also a exhortation. Let's take a look together!
ListenLeaving a Legacy
The final words of David both to the people and to his son reveal much about what leaving a legacy is all about. Let's listen to David as he shares lessons learned over a lifetime.
ListenAn encouraging voice in the middle of the desert...
Betrayel is bad enough, but when it is a family member who betrays you, let alone your son...it really hurts. And this is where David finds himself. As he walks to the desert, dejected and in pain God would once again prove Himself faithful by sending an encouraging word from an unlikely source.
ListenDealing with those in Authority
What is our response when dealing with those who have authority over us? More importantly how do we handle it when we have been hurt or have disagreements with those same people? David's dealings with his son Absalom are very revealing...let's take a look together.
ListenThe most important day of the year!
Because of God's love through Christ we have direct access to Him. What an amazing door has been opened for us!

ListenOne Fateful Spring Day
It's been said that one moment can literally change your life forever...I think that's true. At a time when David should have been with his men he instead found himself alone and open to temptation -- the kind of temptation brought on by too much of a good thing. How could a man who has stood for so much good find himself doing so much wrong? Join us as we look deeper.
ListenUndignified
Have you ever been accused of being undignified? In David's joy and zeal for the Ark of the Covenant coming to its destination, he danced before all the people and in the eyes of his wife made a fool of himself. He answered by saying that he would be "even more undignified than this". What does that mean? And ultimately what does that mean to you and I? The answer is telling and important to our journey with God.
ListenDavid finally gets what has been promised...but at what cost?
Sauls death opened up a new and equally difficult chapter in David's life. He finds himself on one side of a very divisive and painful war between Saul's house and his own. The cost of finally ascending to King would be costly and painful...and yet God's hand guides all the way and David's love for God's word would keep him. We close this week's message with a look at one of the Psalms attributed to David, Psalm 119.
ListenThe Chase Concludes
David's chase by King Saul is almost over. He would have two very significant interactions with him before this time of his life was over. How David responds is critical, not just to his life now, but to his life and what it will look like in the future. Faced with the opportunity to get revenge and to finish this thing by taking matters into his own hands, David chooses a better way. And the lessons we can see in his choice can point us to what that better way really looks like.
ListenJonathan helped David find strength in God.
What can we gather from Jonathan's interaction with David when David found himself overwhelmed and exhausted? Jonathan goes to David and in a short period of time helps him to "find strength in the Lord".
ListenRetrace Your Steps
In a matter of a couple days David would go from son-in-law of the king and golden boy of the kingdom to a fugitive running! Certainly dark times...the kind that all of us go through. But as we retrace David's steps just a bit we can clearly see little bundles of hope and help that God had left along the way. And sometimes it is only in hindsight that we see God's hand at each step of our journey...even our most difficult steps.

Humility and Friendship

David and the Dwarf?
David's encounter with Goliath is perhaps the seminal moment in his life. But what does the story mean to us? What does a Giant Killer act like? Let's look a little deeper at this important story often only thought about as a Sunday School lesson.

Bill Funk
There is a big difference between how God sees people and how we see people.
We tend to live our lives based on what we see, don't we? This makes sense but at the same time it opens us up to view people based only on what we see on the outside. Perhaps what is on the outside is not even close to what is actually happening on the inside. When it was time to choose a new King seeing behind the eyes was critical. Why David? Join us as we begin a series on the life of David
